How to choose the right type of breas-t implant for you?

30 May 2019 By Admin

A well-toned and proportionate body enhance your physical beauty and make you look appealing. Some women feel insecure about the shape and size of their breas-ts which takes a toll on their self-esteem. Breas-t implants have become a popular cosmetic surgery since the past decade as women are becoming more self-aware about the treatments that can improve their physical appearance. However, many women still feel reluctant to opt for breas-ts implants due to many myths associated with it. For instance, some women tend to think that breas-ts implants seem fake after surgery or there is a lack of sensation in the treated area and many more. With the advancement in cosmetic treatments, breas-ts implants are now able to deliver a natural appearance and minimal discomfort.

There are two types of breas-ts implants available in the market today- Silicone implants and Saline implants. Both the implants are meant for augmentation of breas-ts only but have distinct characteristics.

1. Silicone Breas-t Implants: These implants have an outer silicone shell which is filled with a thick medical-grade silicone gel. These implants are FDA approved for women above the age of 22. These implants are recommended for women who are skinny and have little natural breas-t tissue to cover the implants. Women who have lost a major weight or women who have lost volume after breas-tfeeding can opt for these silicone breas-t implants. The implants give a natural look and feel to the breas-ts. The latest silicone implants have a slightly higher fill of 96% as compared to 85% fill and more cross-linking of the silicone molecules, increasing its stiffness. Since the silicone implants are inserted completely, it requires a greater incision. These implants are costlier than saline breas-t implants.

2. Saline Breas-t Implants: Saline implants have an outer covering of silicone which is filled with saline water. These implants are inserted under the thick skin and then filled with saline water according to the required volume. This results in the lesser incision and thus less scarring. These saline breas-ts implants are FDA approved for women above the age of 18. However, these implants are slightly visible underneath thin skin and this is known as implant “rippling” or “wrinkling”. Some saline implants can be adjusted post-operation via a remote injection port and this is commonly used in breas-t reconstruction procedures to perfect the final implant volume before the implant port is removed. These implants custom-filled thus ideal for women with asymmetrical breas-ts.

Both saline and silicone breas-t implants have their pros and cons. Choosing the right kind of breas-t implants to suit your goals will depend on your physique and preferences, balanced by your willingness to accept the changes. However, a board certified plastic surgeon will be able to help you to choose the implants better.
